Volunteers-In-Training
Armaity Dastur Volunteers-in-Training Programme
The Armaity Dastur Volunteer-in-Training Programme, named after and funded by the founder of Friends of Sangam Mumbai and a former member of Sangam’s Centre Team, provides several local Girl Guides with the opportunity for self-development and learning. The Volunteers-in-Training are selected from the Nevidita Guide Group that meets weekly at Sangam. They assist the Sangam Volunteers with event preparation and programming, thereby enhancing their computer skills, work experience, and English language abilities. Occasionally, a Volunteer-in-Training will assist the Community Relations or Guest Services departments.

Namaste!!
My name is Sayali. I came to Sangam as a Nivedita Guide at the age of 12 years. When I used to be in Sangam as a guide, I learned about Bharat Scouts and Guides and a little about Sangam. Most of the time we used to be in the campsite playing and meeting new guests and interacting with them. During that time I was not confident enough to talk to guests. The time passed away and Sangam gave me an opportunity to come here as a Volunteer in Training which has improved my skills. For example photocopying, laminating, computer skills and the most important-my English. I have become more confident to meet new people and share my culture with others. It has showed me how an international centre works. Sangam taught me many new things which I could not have learned from anywhere else. Sangam is the platform which has made me capable of learning, experiencing and sharing. Being here has inspired me to explore the world, and the first thing I want to attend is the Girls' World Forum in 2012 in Chicago, USA.
Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity!!!
